Producer’s notes
A winter colder than average delayed budbreak by a week; a hot, sunny spring then brought even growth and a quick flowering in early June. The summer was fine, sunny and exceptionally dry, with barely 100mm of rain between 1 May and the start of picking on 20 September, and hot without being extreme. The château describes a nose of finesse, grace and depth, a colour of unprecedented intensity and a palate of extraordinary density and length, with a concentration it rates above 2000 and 2003. The Cabernet Sauvignon ripened perfectly without passing 13% alcohol. In its note of February 2025 the château says the wine has opened up considerably, though a few more years of waiting would be ideal.
