Producer’s notes
The winery calls it one of its finest wines yet from this site and likens it to the 2012: layers of cassis, cranberry, graphite, fresh earth and bouillon, plush and dense yet balanced by freshness, with velvety tannins and a drinking window it puts at four decades or more. In 2017 more than 30 inches of rain fell in January and February, and heat spikes followed in July, late August and early September; the fruit was picked on 6 October. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration, and 200 cases were made.
