Producer’s notes
Winter rain ended the drought, and an early, warm spring with soaking rains brought early budbreak. Heat waves during the season were managed through canopy work and shade cloth, which kept acidity and fruit flavours. The winery describes a deep garnet colour; aromas of crushed blackcurrant, slate, violet and cherry; flavours of fruitcake, truffle and vanilla bean with spice; a very velvety texture with cherry, espresso and molasses; and a finish of cigar, cast iron and liquorice. 863 cases were made.
