Producer’s notes
Winter and spring were difficult, with abundant rain and temperatures below normal, yet flowering was remarkably even. A severe summer drought ended with rain in the middle of September that helped the grapes ripen, and a dry October let the harvest run without interruption from 19 September to 4 October. Cool nights and warm days gave wines rich in colour yet fresh and fruity. The château describes a very intense garnet colour, a nose of impressively ripe fruit, concentration and complexity, and a generous, sweet, broad palate that gains in body and power, with refined tannins. It calls 2016 the most complete and charming La Mission in a long time.
