Producer’s notes
Rain in late 2021 refilled the soils before a dry January, and a mild February and March set the vines growing early. April frosts did little damage and flowering passed smoothly in a warm May. Three heat waves followed from June and the water deficit deepened, yet the grapes kept ripening, and rain on the night of 13 August helped balance the sugars. The red grapes were picked from 29 August to 19 September; the berries were smaller and less juicy than in earlier years, but rich in substance and flavour. The château describes a deep, dark purple colour, a delicate nose that shows great depth and complexity with air, and tannins that are present without standing out, in a wine where the terroir dominates whatever the blend.
