Producer’s notes
Mayacamas grows its Merlot in six blocks of its Mt. Veeder estate, between 1,800 and 2,200 feet, mainly French clones 181 and 3, on fractured volcanic cobbles, gravelly loam and cobbled clay, farmed organically since 2013. Depending on the year the wine is all Merlot or includes Cabernet Franc or Cabernet Sauvignon. It ferments in concrete, stainless steel and oak, spends 12 months in large old foudres and 12 months in barrique and puncheon, and rests a year in bottle before release.
