Château Margaux Pavillon Rouge 2005

To Order

Producer’s notes

A winter colder than average delayed budbreak by a week; a hot, sunny spring then brought even growth and a quick flowering in early June. The summer was fine, sunny and exceptionally dry, with barely 100mm of rain between 1 May and the start of picking on 20 September. The château finds the wine surprisingly powerful, full and balanced, and counts 2005, with 2010 and 2015, as the richest Pavillon Rouge it has made, in both tannin and alcohol. It calls it already very good to drink, though a few more years of keeping will benefit it.
