Producer’s notes
An exceptionally wet spring that lasted into June drove vigorous growth, and the fruit set at flowering was excellent. A spectacular summer followed, with warm, sunny days and cool nights, and mild weather without heat spikes through September allowed a long hang time; the harvest ran from 27 September to 13 October. The estate describes an immensely aromatic wine, with ripe cassis and blackberry layered with leather, dried sage, crushed rock and rose petal; elegance and depth on the palate, balancing fruit, earth, minerality and oak tannin; and a persistent finish that recalls wet granite. 2,600 cases were made.
