Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

To Order

Producer’s notes

A drought year: winter rainfall was half the normal, before rain in March revived the vines. Budbreak was early and flowering fast, two weeks ahead of 2013; a mild July allowed slow ripening, and heat in August and September then brought the grapes to maturity. The harvest ran from 15 September to 1 October. The estate calls the wine classic Eisele, more forward than the 2013: white flowers, wild berries, blackcurrant, blackberry and dried rose petal, with vanilla, cinnamon and grilled almond, turning to ripe cherry with air. The palate is ample and silky, with tightly knit tannins, and the finish shows pepper, turmeric and liquorice with a saline touch.
