Producer’s notes
Winemaker Celia Welch describes intensely perfumed aromas of jasmine and crushed rose petal with ripe dark cherry and vanilla, a warm, rich, silky and broad texture she calls unmistakably Rutherford, and a juicy, full bodied finish of great complexity and grace. Vineyard manager Michael Wolf recalls 2011 as the most challenging vintage he could remember: winter rain lasting into late March, late budbreak, a delayed flowering with rain, and a crop well below two tons an acre after intensive canopy work and thinning. The grapes were picked from eleven blocks between 15 and 27 October, and the wine was bottled without fining or filtration in late July 2013. 750 cases were made.
