Producer’s notes
The 2016 season again showed the importance of pruning. Moderate summer temperatures and some cooler days in late August let the grapes ripen slowly and keep their acidity. The winery describes aromas of crushed ripe blackcurrant, stewed plum and grenadine with dried thyme, spearmint and rose petal; layers of black fruit on the palate with toast, vanilla bean, star anise and clove; a pronounced iron minerality; and fine tannins and acidity that carry a lingering finish.
