Producer’s notes

The 2016 season again showed the importance of pruning, adapted plot by plot after the drought years. Summer temperatures were moderate, with some heat spikes in July and cooler days in late August, so the grapes ripened slowly, with less sugar and good acidity. The winery describes fragrant aromas of black plum, redcurrant and dried citrus peel with leather, crème brûlée and vanilla bean; layers of black fruit, toasted cedar and cassis on the palate, with dark chocolate, wild thyme, browned butter and cinnamon; powdery yet firm tannins, bright acidity, and the stony minerality it calls a signature of La Muse.
