Suntory blends whiskies finished in sakura (cherry blossom) wood casks with malt and grain whiskies from its Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries. Chief Blender Shinji Fukuyo created it after five years of work with the sakura cask. Suntory describes an amber whisky with floral scents of sakura and fragrant olive, a smooth palate of acacia honey and French pear with a refined sweetness that recalls sakura mochi, and a long, rich finish.
