Zalto

Zalto is an independent, family-run Austrian maker of mouth-blown wine glasses. Its roots lie in the northern Waldviertel, where glassmaking goes back to the early 14th century, and the brand traces back to glassmakers from the Veneto who settled in the region.

The Denk'Art series is its best-known range of handcrafted wine glasses. The company also makes Series W1, a stemless range, and the Decanter 67, a slim carafe with a long neck and a glass stopper.

The glasses are made from lead-free crystal. Every part is made by hand by a team of eight people dividing the stages of work. The bowl is blown into a mould and the rest is shaped free-hand, followed by slow cooling and a final inspection in which any glass that fails is melted down and recycled.
