Thibault Liger-Belair
Thibault Liger-Belair, cousin of Louis-Michel of Vosne-Romanée, took over his family's vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges in 2001 and quickly earned a place among Burgundy's leading growers. His Richebourg, from vines planted in 1931, is the jewel of the range, and since 2007 he has led the growers seeking grand cru status for Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges.
The domaine covers about seven hectares, ploughed by horse and farmed organically, with biodynamic practices since 2004. Besides Richebourg it holds Clos Vougeot and 2.1 hectares of Les Saint-Georges planted in 1944, with village wines from Vosne-Romanée, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny and Aloxe-Corton. The wines rest on their lees for at least a year and are never fined or filtered, and Thibault also makes old vine Moulin-à-Vent in Beaujolais.
