A glass for each aromatic profile

Sydonios built its range from a scientific, collaborative study of how the glass shapes a tasting. That work led it away from the usual glasses by colour, grape variety or appellation, towards glasses matched to a wine's aromatic profile. Each shape comes in two sizes: - l'Esthète / le Méridional: for powerful, tannic wines. - le Subtil / le Septentrional: for finely structured wines. - l'Universel / l'Empreinte: to bring out the mineral origins of a wine.

The range also includes le Minéral, three decanters (l'Esthète, l'Universel and la Subtile), spittoons in two sizes and bespoke glasses.

Made by hand

Each glass is mouth-blown in European glassworks with a long glassmaking tradition, by a team of seven artisans. One gathers molten glass from the 1,200°C furnace, a second blows the bowl in a mould, a third draws the stem, a fourth adds the foot using fruitwood blocks, and the rest anneal, cut and polish the glass. Every glass is checked at each stage against very fine tolerances. The glasses are lead-free, dishwasher-proof, feather-light and very thin.

The U.B.A collection uses the same shapes but keeps glasses with small natural marks of the blowing, such as a bubble or a ripple, which do not affect the tasting.

Sydonios says its glasses are now used by many of the world's leading sommeliers, oenologists and winemakers.
