Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars was founded in 1970 by Warren and Barbara Winiarski in Napa Valley's Stags Leap District. Its 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon, from only its second vintage, was the highest rated wine at the 1976 Judgment of Paris, placed above Bordeaux first growths Mouton Rothschild and Haut-Brion, and was later added to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History's "101 Objects that Made America".

The estate wines, S.L.V., FAY and CASK 23, come from two vineyards: S.L.V., with a block planted in 1972, and FAY, planted in 1961 as the first Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in the Stags Leap District. Winiarski sold the winery in 2007 to Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and Marchesi Antinori, and in 2023 Antinori, which we also carry, became its sole owner. Marcus Notaro is head winemaker.
