Richard Leroy
Richard Leroy, a former banker, left finance to make dry Chenin Blanc in Anjou and created some of the most sought after white wines of the Loire. His production is tiny and goes to a small circle of buyers.
Leroy farms a few hectares around Rablay-sur-Layon on schist and volcanic soils, with two main wines, Les Noƫls de Montbenault and Les Rouliers. He farms biodynamically, keeps yields very low, ferments in barrel with native yeasts and uses little or no sulphur, for Chenin of great depth and minerality.
