Opus One

Opus One is the pioneering partnership between Bordeaux and Napa. In 1979 Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi joined forces to create a Napa first growth, and the wine has since become one of the most famous wines of the New World. Its first vintage, the 1979, was released in 1984.

The wine is a Bordeaux style blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon, grown in Oakville, including vines in the celebrated To Kalon vineyard. It is made in a striking winery completed in 1991, designed as a meeting of French and Californian traditions, and aged in new French oak for a wine of power, polish and longevity.
