Nine Suns
Nine Suns is the estate of the Chang family on Pritchard Hill, in the eastern hills of Napa Valley. The family bought the property in 2010; 23 of its 40 acres are planted, on rocky, iron rich red soils, with the oldest vines dating from 2004. The first commercial release was the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2022 the property, its winery and the Nine Suns and Houyi names were sold to Realm Cellars.
The Houyi vineyard is planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, and about one acre of Grenache. Besides its Cabernet led red, the estate has made a Rhône style blend, mainly Grenache with some Syrah, since 2016.
