Louis Roederer
Louis Roederer is one of the last great family owned Champagne houses, led by the Rouzaud family. Its Cristal was created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II of Russia, in a clear glass bottle that has become iconic, and Robert Parker awarded the Cristal Rosé 2002 100 points. The family also owns Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in Pauillac.
Roederer farms one of the largest vineyard holdings in Champagne, a large share of it biodynamically, and Cristal comes only from its own grand cru vineyards. The house makes its vintage Brut, Blanc de Blancs and Rosé from its own vines, and Cristal Vinothèque releases older vintages after many more years in the cellar.
