Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier

Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier is run by Freddy Mugnier, a former engineer and airline pilot, who took over his family's domaine at the Château de Chambolle-Musigny in the 1980s and now makes some of the most refined wines in Burgundy. His Musigny, Bonnes Mares and Les Amoureuses are prized for their transparency and grace.

Besides the grand crus and Les Amoureuses, Mugnier makes Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées and village Chambolle, and since 2004 the Nuits-Saint-Georges Clos de la Maréchale, a monopole returned to the family after a long lease. He uses little new oak and a light hand in the cellar, letting each site speak.
