François Raveneau
Domaine François Raveneau, founded in 1948, is the most revered name in Chablis, and collectors treat the family's wines on a par with the great white Burgundies of the Côte d'Or. Bottles are scarce and allocated worldwide.
The family farms the grand crus Les Clos, Valmur and Blanchot and premier crus including Montée de Tonnerre, Butteaux, Chapelot, Vaillons and Forêt, on Chablis's Kimmeridgian limestone. The grapes are picked by hand, rare in Chablis, and the wines mature in old oak barrels without new wood, giving Chablis of great intensity and longevity.
