Far Niente
Founded in Oakville in 1885 by John Benson, abandoned during Prohibition and restored by Gil Nickel from 1979, Far Niente is one of Napa's historic estates. Its name, from the Italian for without a care, is carved over the door of the original stone winery.
The Estate Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the family's Oakville vineyards, and the wine is aged in French oak in the estate's extensive caves. Far Niente is equally celebrated for its Chardonnay, and the Napa estate is surrounded by restored gardens.
