Domaine Macle
Domaine Macle is the reference producer of Château-Chalon, the Jura's most celebrated appellation for vin jaune, the wine aged for more than six years under a veil of yeast. Robert Parker awarded its Château-Chalon 1989 and 2009 100 points. The family domaine is run by Laurent Macle.
The vines grow on steep marl slopes below the village of Château-Chalon, planted to Savagnin, and the vin jaune matures for at least six years and three months in old barrels before bottling in the traditional 62 centilitre clavelin. The wines are famous for living for many decades.
