Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is the most celebrated estate in Burgundy and the maker of the world's most sought after red wine. It takes its name from the Prince of Conti, who bought the Romanée vineyard in 1760, and is owned today by the de Villaine and Leroy-Roch families. Robert Parker awarded 100 points to the Romanée-Conti 1985, La Tâche 1999, Montrachet 1986 and Richebourg 1929.
The domaine is sole owner of two grand crus, Romanée-Conti, just 1.8 hectares, and La Tâche, about six hectares, and also makes Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands-Échezeaux, Échezeaux, Corton and Montrachet, with a Corton-Charlemagne since 2019. The vines are farmed organically and biodynamically, yields are tiny, and the wines are made largely with whole bunches. Cuvée Duvault-Blochet, a Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru, comes from young grand cru vines.
