Dom Pérignon
Dom Pérignon is the prestige Champagne of Moët & Chandon, named after the Benedictine monk of Hautvillers whose name is linked to the birth of Champagne. It is made only as a vintage, in the years the chef de cave judges worthy, and its first release was the 1921. Special editions with artists such as Jeff Koons and the designer Tokujin Yoshioka are keenly collected.
Each vintage blends Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the finest crus. The wine is released after about eight years, and later releases called Plénitudes, formerly Oenothèque, show it after much longer ageing on the lees. Dom Pérignon Rosé is made in smaller quantities.
