Château Pavie Macquin

Château Pavie Macquin has been a Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion since 2006 and is named after Albert Macquin, who pioneered grafting vines onto American rootstock in Saint-Émilion after phylloxera. Nicolas Thienpont has managed the estate for the family since the 1990s.

The vineyard lies on the limestone plateau beside Château Pavie and Troplong Mondot, mainly Merlot with Cabernet Franc, and was one of the first in Saint-Émilion to be farmed biodynamically. The wine is powerful and mineral, built for long ageing, and the second wine is Les Chênes de Macquin.
