Château Montrose
Château Montrose is a Second Growth of Saint-Estèphe, on gravel beside the Gironde, famous for wines of power and longevity, and Robert Parker awarded the 1989 100 points. Since 2006 it has been owned by Martin and Olivier Bouygues, who carried out a full environmental renovation of the estate.
About 95 hectares in a single block run down to the estuary, led by Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The estate generates much of its own energy and has moved towards organic farming. The second wine is La Dame de Montrose.
