Château La Tour Blanche
Château La Tour Blanche was ranked Premier Cru of Sauternes in the 1855 Classification, just after Yquem at the time. Since 1909 it has belonged to the French state, left to it by Daniel Iffla Osiris on condition that it house a school of viticulture and winemaking, which it still does.
The vineyard in Bommes lies on gravel and clay, planted mainly to Sémillon with Sauvignon Blanc and a little Muscadelle. The grapes are picked in several passes as noble rot develops, and the wine is fermented and matured in new oak, giving a rich, luscious Sauternes.
