Château Gazin

Château Gazin is one of the largest estates on the Pomerol plateau and a direct neighbour of Pétrus, to which it sold part of its vineyard in 1969. The de Bailliencourt family has owned Gazin since 1918.

The vineyard of about 24 hectares lies on clay and gravel, mainly Merlot with some Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and the wine is rich and dark, with the depth of the plateau. The second wine, L'Hospitalet de Gazin, recalls the estate's medieval ownership by the Knights Hospitaller.
