Château Calon-Ségur

Château Calon-Ségur is a Third Growth of Saint-Estèphe and the château with a heart on its label. Its 18th century owner, the Marquis de Ségur, who also owned Lafite and Latour, is said to have declared that he made wine at Lafite and Latour, but his heart was at Calon, and for that reason Calon-Ségur has long been a favourite gift.

The vineyard lies on gravel over clay and limestone in the north of Saint-Estèphe, enclosed by a stone wall, and has been replanted with a higher share of Cabernet Sauvignon in recent years. The second wine is Le Marquis de Calon Ségur.
