Castello Banfi

Founded in Montalcino in 1978 by the Mariani family, the American importers behind Banfi Vintners, Castello Banfi helped carry Brunello di Montalcino to a worldwide audience. Its pioneering research into hundreds of Sangiovese clones has shaped the modern appellation.

The estate spans thousands of hectares around the medieval Castello di Poggio alle Mura in the south of Montalcino. Its Brunello Riserva Poggio alle Mura is made from the best of its selected Sangiovese clones and aged in oak, for a Brunello of depth and polish.
