Berthaut-Gerbet
Berthaut-Gerbet is a family domaine in Fixin, rooted there since at least the 18th century, which has risen fast since Amélie Berthaut took over the winemaking in 2013 at the age of 25. It unites her father's Berthaut vineyards with part of her mother's Gerbet family vines in Vosne-Romanée.
The domaine covers 16 hectares across Fixin, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Vosne-Romanée and the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, with grand crus in Clos Vougeot and Échezeaux and premier crus such as Chambolle-Musigny Les Plantes. The farming is largely organic, with horse ploughing on the steepest slope. Fermentation uses native yeasts and up to 60% whole bunches, and the wines mature for 12 to 15 months with little new oak and are not fined.
