Producer’s notes
After a wet winter and a damp May, flowering began slowly and then quickened when the sun returned. Two months of unbroken heat and drought followed, unusual for Bordeaux, relieved by a few showers in mid-August before the dry weather resumed until mid-September. Heavy rain then set in, but the grapes stayed perfectly healthy, their skins thickened by the summer heat and the estate's vineyard work. Picking ran from 18 September to 3 October. The château describes a deep, dark garnet wine with a floral nose of crushed strawberry, blackcurrant, graphite and a touch of menthol, a silky, ample palate with mellow tannins, and a long, juicy, fruit-driven finish.
